Thomas Hoppe has during the last years built a reputation as exceptional pianist and outstanding collaborative artist.  He performs frequently in Europe and the US, and maintains a demanding performance schedule. He has concertized with such artists as

violinists  Itzhak Perlman, Joshua Bell, Annette von Hehn, Kristin Lee, Brian Lewis, Ning Feng,  Saeka Matsuyama, Stefan Milenkovich, Gil Morgenstern, Yuri Namkung, Axel Strauss, Christoph Schickedanz, Janet Sung, Elisabeth Weber and Antje Weithaas

cellists  Ani Aznavourian, Alexandre Chaushian, Evan Drachman, Andre Emelianoff, Xiaomu Fang, Stefan Heinemeyer, Paul Katz, Ronald Leonard,  Markus Nyikos, Amit Peled and Jeff Ziegler

singers George Shirley, Shirley Verrett, Jennifer Aylmer, Dana Bhatnagar, Kathleen Flynn, Camilla Nylund, Angela Fout, Camille Zamorra and the late Makiko Narumi 

to name but a few.  He has appeared at many prestigious halls, including Carnegie`s Weill and Zankel Recital Halls, New York City´s Alice Tully Hall, Merkin Hall and 92nd Street Y, Konzerthaus Berlin and Kammersaal der Philarmonie Berlin/Germany, Tsuda and Oji Halls Tokyo/Japan, Kentucky Center for the Arts, the Congress Center Hamburg, the Louvre in Paris/France, Hamer Hall in Melbourne/Australia and Lisinski Hall in Zagreb/Croatia.

During the summers 2001-04 Hoppe was staff accompanist at the Perlman Music Festival at the invitation of Itzhak Perlman, whose entire violin studio Thomas accompanied at the Juilliard School of Music.

Hoppe has played solo and chamber music recitals throughout the USA, in Austria, Germany, France, England, Czech Republic, Chile, Croatia, Italy, Ireland, Switzerland,  Ecuador and Japan.  He has recorded for radio and television, and has been soloist with various orchestras, including the Mainzer Chamber Orchestra, the Ecuador National Sypmhony, the Montgomery Symphony Orchestra and the University of Louisville Orchestra.

Upcoming engagements include concerts in New York City, Berlin, Vienna, and many others.

As staff accompanist for many international competitions, Thomas has worked for ARD Munich, Leonard Rose Maryland, Feuermann Berlin, Yfrah Neaman Mainz, Stulberg Michigan, Markneukirchen, Kreisler Vienna and Taschner Berlin. 

He has completed highly successful tours of Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Minnesota, Florida, Ohio, Kentucky, Massachusetts and Montana with singers and instrumentalists under the auspices of the Piatigorsky Foundation, NYC.

Thomas Hoppe is pianist and founding member of the ATOS Trio, which started in 2003 and has since garnered tremendous success throughout Europe and abroad. Shortly after the first rehearsals, the trio won 2nd prize and "Audience Favourite" prize at the Brahms Competition 2003 in Austria.  At the Deutsche Musik - Wettbewerb 2004, Germany´s most important national chamber music competition,  the ATOS Trio (Annette von Hehn, violin - Stefan Heinemeyer, cello and Thomas Hoppe, piano) was awarded a first prize and was also chosen for the Young Artist Concert Series (KjK).  The young and enthusiastic trio plays to public and critical acclaim, and during the next season will perform concerts in Germany, Italy, Chile, Belgium, France, and the USA.  Their Debut CD is available since August 2005, and the production of a documentary about the trio on German TV station SWR was produced in November 2004.  For the season 2005-2006, they were invited to perform Beethovens Triple Concerto with the National Orchestra in Chile and with the Symphonic Orchestra Kiel, while keeping a performance schedule of more than 40 recitals throughout Europe.  In February 2006, they were awarded 1st prize and the Schubert Prize at the International Schubert Competition in Graz. In July 2007 they participated in the 5th Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition, and were given 1st Prize, the Grand Prize, the Audience Favourite Prize and the Musica Viva Tour Prize.

The ATOS Trio is being mentored by Professor Ilan Gronich and by the Alban Berg Quartet.

Hoppe has extensive experience and as orchestral pianist (under David Zinman, Julius Rudel, James de Preist, James Conlon and Bob Spano), has worked as a vocal coach at the Juilliard School and at the Aspen Opera Theater and was staff pianist for the Metropolitan Opera Guild. 

Born in 1971 in the small city of Bad Kreuznach/Germany, Thomas received early training at the Peter-Cornelius-Conservatory in Mainz from Agathe Wanek.  In 1993, he came to the US to study with Lee Luvisi,  under whose fantastic guidance he remained for 5 years.

The first recipient of the Samuel Sanders Memorial Award at the Juilliard School of Music in 1999, he finished his graduate studies at this institution in 2001 under Brian Zeger and Jonathan Feldman with a diploma in collaborative arts.  He continous his affiliation with Juilliard as a staff accompanist, and has worked for the studios of Dorothy Delay, Itzhak Perlman, Heidi Castleman, Toby Appel, Naoko Tanaka, Robert Mann, Joel Krosnick, Carol Wincenc and many others.

Since 2002 he is on the faculty of the Hochschule der Künste Berlin and divides his time between Germany and the USA.

When he is not learning new repertoire or playing a concert, Thomas spends time with his son Antonio, 12, his daughter Nashta, 3 months, and his wife Sissy, 26.  Together, they love eating, playing basketball, watching movies and travelling. Thomas also likes to occasionally play the cello (an instrument he studied for many years), enjoys good beer, watches boxing or eats new and exciting dishes.
